DeafBlind Ontario Services is a not-for-profit organization that helps individuals who are deafblind increase their independence and improve their quality of life through specialized services. Our community based residences are designed to support the unique needs of individuals who are deafblind, as well as encourage the development of life and vocational skills along with recreational opportunities.
Our services are located across York Region, Simcoe County, Middlesex-Oxford, TriCities, Durham-Peterborough and Ottawa region.
Our Residential Services clients are able to enjoy two unique programs, of Snoezelen Rooms and of Sensory Excursions. Each region is equipped with a Snoezelen Room - a multi-sensory room that is designed to be soothing and stimulating using lighting effects, textures, aromas, sounds, etc. Snoezelen Rooms can open up a whole new world for individuals with sensory losses; participants can actively explore, absorb, and exercise control on their own terms. A Sensory Excursion is a trip taken by a client that is based on their dreams, goals and past history. Each Sensory Excursion is individually designed to stimulate the senses and provide new experiences for the individual.
DeafBlind Ontario Services is considered a leader in the field and is proud to offer the highest quality Intervenor Services. No two individuals who are deafblind are alike, and we pride ourselves on individually tailored programs for each person we support.
