If 95% of what we learn comes from our eyes and ears, imagine what it must be like to be deafblind.
Imagine the challenge to perform the simple things you do around the house every day such as cooking a meal, answering the phone or getting the mail. Even getting from one room to another could take considerable effort when both your vision and your hearing are impaired.
For almost two decades, DeafBlind Ontario Services has helped create homes where adults with congenital deafblindness can live more independently. Through its supported living arrangements, trained intervention, work experience and other specialized support services, DeafBlind Ontario Services gives each resident the ability to enhance their independent living skills.
A not-for-profit organization, DeafBlind Ontario Services was founded in 1989 by a group of motivated parents. Today, it provides ‘senseable’ residences and support services for deafblind adults across the province.
